The spring time in NYC this year is amazing and we keep exploring the city. We especially like SoHo area and tend to spend a lot of time there 🙂 Our latest find is Little Lions NYC – Cat Cafe and Teahouse! Very cozy place where you can enjoy variety of teas and play with cats at the same time.
“Welcome to the Cat Sanctuary!” – greets you a shop keeper with a smile as you enter the cafe. Time to order your drink. The place offers diverse tea selection from black to green to white of all kinds. Coffee, pastries and little bites are also on the menu – surely you won’t be left hungry. Once the delicious something is in your hands, you’ll be guided to the “Cat’s room”.
As you enter the space you immediately feel like home. Living room looking chamber with dimmed light will make you relax and get unwind right away. Settle on one of the sofas and look around – you are surrounded by the cutest creatures ready to meet you.
There are about 10-12 cats at the same time in the room. Some of them are sleeping, some active and ready to play and some are just wandering the space. Most of the cats are not afraid of people and will be open to get acquainted with you.
As you interact with these little lions, soon enough you’ll be able to grasp the character of each and everyone of them which makes this place to be ideal for adoption – the main purpose of the setting. All the cats are coming from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary – Little Lions NYC’s partner. You can adopt any cat (or two or more) right there on the spot and take them home with you.

We went there on Wednesday night at 7pm and there were very few people. I can imagine that the place is packed on the weekends! Although you are welcome to walk-in, it is recommended to make a reservation ahead of time to make sure you get a spot as the amount of people allowed to be with cats at the same time is limited. An hour of sanctuary experience cost $11.00 and you can easily make a booking online.
On your way out make sure to stop by a little gift shop and get your cat mag or t-shirt.
What a beautiful place. Will have to go there on our NYC trip.
